Sunday in the Park with George Gumby

This afternoon, Gumby and I went downtown to The Topiary Garden in Old Deaf School Park for a walk around the park in a "light" rain. This was the first time I have actually been in the garden inspired by the pointillist painting A Sunday on La Grande Jatte by George Seurat.

We got caught in a nice rain, but we were able to hang out and stay mostly dry under some trees. Then some thunder and cuteness across the park made us decide to move on. This is a great park and is loved by many of the homeless and panhandlers of Columbus (enjoy the park and just walk on by the others).

Here's a few other photos from the weekend.

Is this a Republican bench for rent or a Republican for rent? Oh wait I know. This bench is a re-election advertisement for Deborah Pryce, i.e. the Political Whore.

This is my ornamental banana that I have had for several years. I all but killed it this past winter, but as you can see, it is doing fine now.

My front yard 'water garden'. Don't fall in!

I just love a red hot poker.

Here in the University District we also grow beer.

Not Posting Monday - Friday: Week I

Well I just have too much going on at work, and then the whole bringing work home thing, the dogs, stuff needed done around the house(s), and all the other stuff, that I have official cancelled my Monday - Friday postings.

I hope to do weekend posts and one work-week post with a photo.

I'm looking forward to next May and the end of deadlines!!!!

But you do get a nice photo.

Sleeping Beagles

Where's the Beef?

In a comment today on an earlier post Brad asked what was for dinner. See the Gumby is odd and doesn't like to eat beef (or raw tomatoes, but that another post.) So for my "Beefapalooza" I have had:

Friday: Flank Steak marinated with olive oil, vinegar and eye-talian seasonings.

Saturday: Porter House Steak, ala bistecca alla fiorentina
and one big ass baked potato.

So the steak was done before the potato. So it will be baked potato for desert.

Also, the chilies are on the grill roasting.

Just waiting on the potato.....

Home Alone

With Gumby being out of town this weekend, I brought home massive amounts of work I need to get done and I'm not all that happy about having to work. So I am busy not working on it. I got up early with the dogs this morning and by 8:00 I had 3 expressos and 4 pieces of bacon in me. I was going to head down to The North Market around 9:00 but we had a nice downpour which I had to wait out. I wanted to get to the market early because they are having their Farmer's Market Festival today and I knew the place would be packed with suburbanites. I got there around 10:30 and the streets around the market were crammed full of cars with drivers trying to park right at the front door of the market. I guess if you are from Dublin, Ohio you are not physically able to park a short distance away and walk. How do I know they were from Dublin? A. The whole parking thing, B. "W" stickers. (assholes)

"Festival" days are good for the vendors and farmers, however I hate them. Too many people in the way. And a lot of people here in central Ohio are a bit on the large size. And let's not forget the baby strollers! I saw one that must be manufactured by Hummer. I could have fit into it with the kid with room to spare. "Get out of my way! Don't you people have a soccer game you need to get to????

There was a Hobbit there today that Gumby would have really like. 5'7"red tee-shirt (see above)

Yes we grow them big here.

I got my usual # 8 from Lac Viet Market, but people were really getting on my nerves by then and I got it take-away.

At the market I bought some locally grown grapes, which are so good. I got a large bag of poblano peppers which I will roast then freeze for later use. I got a dozen eggs from Gatterdam Eggs. I'm going to make Ananas (pineapple) Gelato.

When I got home I had porn waiting for me in the mailbox!!

Wow this is my 100th post.

Dinner for Three

Cucumber and Avocado Soup with Shrimp, Tomato and Basil Salad Shrimp were not a part of the original recipe. I boiled the shrimp with a TON of Cajun seasoning.

A quick pasta with roasted red peppers and mozzarella.

Chocolate Gelato. To me this was pretty good, but the two chocolate whores sitting at the table were moaning like actors in a cheap porn flick. Oh and I made recipe #2. It is good...
